Juventus market, two new targets in the crosshairs with an eye on the Champions League

Juventus does not yet have mathematical qualification for the next Champions League in its pocket, but at the club they are reasoning to get there, eventually, in the best possible conditions, including from a bureaucratic point of view. In order to present a list of 25 players, in fact, at least eight must be locally trained: four grown in the club and four coming from an Italian nursery: a constraint that this year has complicated the Bianconeri management, which was forced to reduce the European list due to a lack of suitable profiles.

For this reason, too, therefore, the management has begun to direct the market towards Italian profiles or at least trained in our soccer, and the department on which attentions are being focused is the defensive one. According to reports from ‘Tuttosport,’ in fact, the new names are those of Giorgio Scalvini and Michael Kayode. For the former, Juventus has reportedly initiated initial contacts with Atalanta to understand the margins and costs of an operation that would be strongly welcomed by Luciano Spalletti, although there is talk of an Orobian request of around 40 million euros.

As for the Brentford lateral, on the other hand, it would be a return to the Bianconeri: from 2014 to 2018, in fact, the Borgomanero native was part of the Old Lady’s youth sector, before moving to Gozzano and, subsequently, joining Fiorentina, with which he made his Serie A debut in 2023. His return to Turin would allow him to meet the Uefa requirements linked to players trained at the club, but again the valuation is high: around 30 million.

To get to either target will require revenue: a significant amount could come from Sassuolo’s sale of Tarik Muharemovic, as Juventus holds 50 percent on the future resale of the Sassuolo center-back. With Inter and Tottenham interested and a valuation that can touch 35 million, the Bianconeri would cash in on about 17.5 million.

More money should instead come from the increasingly likely farewell of Edon Zhegrova, who has never fully convinced in the Bianconeri and could try his adventure in one of the Premier League’s mid-profile teams (Everton is on his trail), as well as from the disposals of Juan Cabal (France or Germany the possible destinations) and Filip Kostic (appreciated in Greece, Portugal and Turkey).

The puzzle is complex, but the way is mapped out: Juventus is ready to shore up the squad in Luciano Spalletti’s image and likeness, to try to become competitive again in Europe after a continental season that ended in the playoffs against Galatasaray.
