Former Juventus goalkeeper Stefano Tacconi in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport spoke about the situation at the Bianconeri, with a goalkeeper to be found after Di Gregorio’s difficult season: “He alternated highs and lows last season. That of the goalkeeper was one of Juve’s many problems, not the only one. The exclusion from the Champions League is everyone’s fault, not just Di Gregorio’s.”

“I would never have sold Szczesny, it was a mistake. Alisson is a champion and has won everything, he is not a detail to lead Juventus. Dibu Martinez? He has attributes and looks crazier, but never as much as me. However, I would prefer an Italian goalkeeper, my favorite is Carnesecchi,” is Tacconi’s advice to the Old Lady.

Tacconi then dwelt on national team goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, giving a very harsh assessment: “Gigio is strong, there is no question. But he is lacking in some fundamentals: sometimes he makes childish mistakes.”

The former extreme defender spoke about his Juventus experience: “Goalkeeping at Juventus is not a job for everyone. It is a role where you need personality, character and serenity. At the beginning I had the pressure of the legacy of a monument like Dino Zoff and I had to invent something to overcome it. So I started to tell everyone off, including the world champions. I wanted to make it clear that I was a tough guy, and I succeeded. I was also lucky: the penalty I parried on the first day gave me confidence. It was another soccer, with shooters of the caliber of Maradona, Platini and Zico: now nobody kicks from outside anymore, I could even parry blindfolded.”
