Milan Transfer Market: The Final Decision on Camarda’s Future Opens Up a New Scenario

On Thursday, Milan officially announced that it had exercised its buyback option on Francesco Camarda, who will therefore return to the Rossoneri after spending a season at Lecce. In a statement, the club announced that it had exercised the option after Lecce had activated the buyout clause. “AC Milan announces that it has exercised its right of counter-option regarding the sporting performance of player Francesco Camarda. The forward will therefore return to the Rossoneri effective July 1, 2026,” the statement reads.

This decision not only closes one chapter but opens another. Because Milan, in the midst of a rebuilding phase, sees Camarda as a player to be carefully evaluated starting this summer. The new scenario, in fact, centers on the management of the attack, with the club currently facing significant uncertainty: Leao and Pulisic’s futures remain up in the air, Füllkrug has returned to England, and the continued presence of Gimenez and Nkunku is far from guaranteed.

In this context, Milan has decided to give Camarda a real opportunity; he will begin summer training under new head coach Ruben Amorim. The club’s plan is clear: after a series of unsuccessful signings in recent seasons, it’s time to focus on a homegrown talent, assessing his potential and room for growth directly through daily training.

Camarda’s return is therefore not just a formality but represents a strategic decision: Milan wants to determine whether the 2008-born player can become an immediate asset or if he will need another step in his development—perhaps another loan—at a club that can give him more playing time than Lecce did. The first answer will come in the coming weeks, when Amorim will be able to observe him closely.
