Jannik Sinner, a short break: the schedule leading up to the U.S. Open still needs to be decided

His second Wimbledon title is now on the trophy shelf. It’s a huge source of satisfaction. Unfortunately, in tennis, there’s little time to savor one’s victories. You always have to think about the next match, the next tournament—and that’s exactly what Jannik Sinner is doing alongside his team.

After a few days of well-deserved rest—also to relieve the immense tension built up on the English grass—he’ll need to decide where to play before the US Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season (another major goal for the world No. 1).

It calls for careful consideration. The world No. 1 could play the Masters 1000 tournaments in Montreal and Cincinnati to try to set the record for the most Masters 1000 titles won in a single year, or choose just one of the two to “conserve his energy” ahead of the US Open.

If he chooses to play only the Cincinnati Masters 1000, he could find himself facing Carlos Alcaraz, who is pushing to return from a long injury layoff. If he were to take part in the Montreal tournament, he would then have more time to prepare for the American Grand Slam (Cincinnati ends on August 23, one week before the US Open).
