MotoGP: Aprilia Dominates at Silverstone; Martin Extends Lead Over Marc Marquez

There was practically no contest in MotoGP’s return to Silverstone. The British Grand Prix turned into a true Aprilia domination, with Raúl Fernández pulling off a perfect start, immediately taking the lead, and never relinquishing it until the checkered flag. The Spaniard built an impressive lead and managed tire degradation perfectly, securing a decisive victory and giving the Noale-based manufacturer a historic day.

Behind him, it was a huge celebration for Aprilia, which placed three bikes on the podium. Jorge Martin finished second, while Marco Bezzecchi rounded out the podium on his return from injury. This marks a historic result for the Italian manufacturer, which had never before achieved a one-two-three finish at Silverstone. The race was decided early on. Fernández got off to a blistering start and left everyone behind, with Bezzecchi and Alex Márquez immediately on his heels. Martín, on the other hand, ran wide and slipped back to fourth place before quickly regaining ground. Meanwhile, Silverstone became the scene of a veritable carnage: Rins, Mir, Crutchlow, Bastianini, Bagnaia, and Ogura all crashed out, with Ogura forced to bow out of a race in which he had been among the World Championship’s leading contenders.

Up front, Fernández was unstoppable. The Spaniard built a lead of nearly five seconds, then managed the natural tire degradation and crossed the finish line with a lead of about two and a half seconds over his closest pursuers. It was a display of strength and maturity, built on a steady pace and impeccable race management. Behind him, the battle was entirely an internal Aprilia affair. Martin caught up to Bezzecchi twice and, during the ninth lap, managed to pass him, claiming second place. The Italian rider, however, despite his still-precarious physical condition and recent injury-induced absence, held off his rivals’ comeback and fought tooth and nail to defend a hard-earned podium finish.

Alex Marquez was the main rider trying to attack him, closing in during the final laps but failing to complete the pass. Bezzecchi held on and secured third place, rounding out Aprilia’s triumph. Behind the podium, Alex Marquez finished fourth, while Pedro Acosta rounded out the top five ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio. Marc Marquez finished seventh, followed by Binder, Marini, and Moreira, with the latter managing to outmaneuver Morbidelli in the very final moments.

The victory at Silverstone thus allows Jorge Martin to consolidate his lead in the World Championship, even though Fernandez was the star of the day. Martin moves up to 240 points, with Bezzecchi at 209 and Ogura at 203. Further back are Marc Marquez at 200 and Di Giannantonio at 199. That means five riders are separated by just 41 points. The championship remains wide open, and all eyes are already on the next round in two weeks at Aragon, where the World Championship promises another nail-biting battle.
