Ligue 1 2026–2027: Lille vs. PSG, Probable Lineups

On Friday, August 28, at 8:45 p.m., the Pierre Mauroy Stadium will host the big match of the second day of Ligue 1. Davide Ancelotti’s Lille will face off against Paris Saint-Germain, the French and European champions, in a matchup that immediately pits two of the most anticipated contenders in the French league against each other.

Lille heads into the match in high spirits after a 2-0 victory on the road against Angers on the first matchday. PSG, on the other hand, had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Rennes, staging a late comeback after being forced to play catch-up. The match against PSG will be Lille’s first home game of the new Ligue 1 season. The team coached by Davide Ancelotti can point to a particularly interesting statistic: if they win, it will mark their fifth consecutive victory in their first home league game.

In their last four such matches, Lille has also conceded just one goal, confirming their solid defensive performance in front of their home crowd. Their last home loss in Ligue 1 in August dates back to 2022, when PSG itself won by a crushing 7-1 margin. However, there are also some statistics that call for caution. Lille is currently on a streak of three consecutive winless home league matches, during which they’ve scored only once. Throughout 2026, however, the French side lost only one home game in Ligue 1.

Paris Saint-Germain began the season with a draw that raised some questions. The 2-2 draw against Rennes forced the defending champions to come from behind, and another slip-up on Matchday 2 could see Luis Enrique’s team match the longest winless streak recorded in Ligue 1 last season. This is an unusual situation for PSG, which hadn’t dropped points in the first two matchdays of the season since the 2023–24 campaign.
