F1: Imola Is Optimistic—Plans Are Underway to Host the Grand Prix in December, but Abu Dhabi Isn’t Giving Up

In the F1 circus, there’s still talk of the (real) possibility that Italy could host two Grand Prix races this year. Following the spectacular Italian Grand Prix, won by Kimi Antonelli, there are dreams of a return to Imola for the season finale.

Imola aims to take Abu Dhabi’s place on this year’s F1 calendar (which is in doubt due to the well-known instability in the Middle East). If that were to happen, on the weekend of December 4–6, the race would take place in Italy once again—specifically at the Imola circuit—with the possibility of celebrating Kimi Antonelli as the new F1 World Champion.

The city in Romagna believes it can happen—so much so that there’s already a plan in place to ensure they’re ready. Accommodation prices in the city and near the racetrack have already skyrocketed for that weekend, confirming that the possibility is very real.

However, Abu Dhabi is also convinced it can host the F1 race as scheduled. Packages to attend the event are already on sale on the official websites. In short, there is no intention of letting Imola take over. The final decision, with Stefano Domenicali at the helm, will be made in early October. Italian fans are keeping their fingers crossed.
