Davide Moretti, Cantù’s latest signing: “I can’t wait”

Acqua S.Bernardo Pallacanestro Cantù has made a major signing, announcing the acquisition of Davide Moretti, a 191 cm, 81 kg wing player born in Bologna on March 25, 1998. This latest major signing rounds out the blue-and-white roster ahead of the 2026-27 LBA SisalClub season.
“I’m very happy to be in Cantù and to have been given this opportunity. I can’t wait to get started and bring my energy and experience to the team,” were Moretti’s first words.
General Manager Simone Giofré is also pleased: “We welcome Davide, an experienced player who rounds out our roster by adding quality and great motivation.”
Moretti came up through the youth systems of Stella Azzurra Roma and Pistoia, with whom he made his LBA debut at just sixteen years old. In 2015, he chose to move to Treviso in the A2 league, where, in the 2016–17 season, he won the league’s Best Under-22 Player award. The following year, he left Italy to play in the NCAA. He spent three years at Texas Tech University, where, in 2019, he became the first Italian to play in a March Madness final, scoring 15 points in that game. In 2020, he returned to Italy, signing with Milan, with whom he won the Super Cup and the Italian Cup and made his EuroLeague debut.
The following year, he was loaned to Pesaro. At VL, he played two standout seasons, leading the team to two playoff appearances and finishing his second season with an average of 11.7 points per game. That average improved further the following season, spent in Varese, reaching 12.1 points per game. This led to a move to another top team, Venezia, with whom he also competed in the EuroCup. Last season, he played for Trieste, finishing the year with an average of 4.1 points per game. Throughout his career, Moretti has extensive experience playing for youth national teams and has made two official appearances with the senior national team.
