Ferrari: Lewis Hamilton is feeling ill; no interviews. Vasseur’s comments are a mystery

Lewis Hamilton felt slightly unwell and did not speak to reporters at the post-race press conference in Singapore. The seven-time world champion was examined by the FIA doctor, who then allowed the British driver to skip the usual post-Grand Prix interviews. In some images circulating on social media, Hamilton appears particularly exhausted after finishing sixth in Singapore.
During the race, the driver took the blame over the team radio for failing to pit during the Virtual Safety Car period, when he had opted for a one-stop strategy: “Sorry, I let you down with that strategy.”
Frederic Vasseur, however, explained it differently to Sky: “We called both drivers into the pits during the Virtual Safety Car, but Hamilton missed the pit entrance. Today we had the chance to finish with a one-two, but instead we came in second and sixth—it is what it is. We need to talk with Hamilton to avoid these situations in the future. When we asked him to let Leclerc through, he was very sportsmanlike; overall, both did an excellent job—except for missing the pit entrance. It’s a shame because it cost us points.”
Charles Leclerc had this to say after his second-place finish: “We brought some parts that allowed us to take a step forward, even if it’s not quite enough yet. But by continuing to push as hard as we can, I hope we’ll be able to reach the top step of the podium as soon as possible.”
