The match against Napoli could prove to be a decisive turning point for Luciano Spalletti’s future as Juventus’s head coach. Following the crushing 2-0 loss to Genoa, the Bianconeri coach is under pressure to deliver an immediate response. The team can no longer afford any missteps, and the match at Allianz Stadium—scheduled for Sunday, November 1, at 8:45 p.m.—is shaping up to be a true test of survival for the Tuscan coach.

Spalletti’s position is becoming increasingly precarious. The results of recent weeks have fueled doubts and discontent, with Juventus stuck on 14 points after nine league matches. The match against the Azzurri, led by Massimiliano Allegri (who is suspended and will be replaced on the bench by assistant coach Marco Landucci), could therefore weigh heavily on the club’s assessment.

In an attempt to turn things around, Spalletti is preparing a major shake-up to the lineup. According to reports on the likely lineup, the coach is considering abandoning the 3-5-2 formation to return to a back four and field a 4-3-3, while also making several changes to the starting lineup compared to recent matches. Vicario will once again start in goal, while the main change in defense is the return to a back four. Kalulu will play on the right, with Bremer and Lucumì in the center. On the left, Kelly is set to take Cambiaso’s place.

In midfield, McKennie is expected to start, with Douglas Luiz pulling the strings and Koopmeiners rounding out the lineup. This midfield trio is tasked with providing greater balance while also supporting the team’s attacking play. The most interesting changes, however, are in the attack. Spalletti could opt for an unprecedented front three, with Zhegrova on the right and Boga on the opposite flank. Kolo Muani will be in the center, tasked with leading the attack and regaining his cutting edge in front of goal.

This shake-up also involves some high-profile omissions. Cambiaso could start on the bench, while Woltemade—a key player in previous lineup projections—risks losing his starting spot.
