Nadal passes, Cecchinato doesn’t.

Rafael Nadal returned to competition 56 days after falling to Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and did so with a convincing victory over Federico Delbonis, who was knocked out in two sets, 6-1 and 6-2 in an hour and 20 minutes in the valid second-round match of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. The Spaniard is seeking his title number 12 on the Principality’s clay, where he made his debut in 2003.

After Sinner, meanwhile, the Italian patrol lost another piece with Cecchinato scrambled by Goffin in the second set (6-0) after a 6-4 win for the Belgian in the first.
