Miccoli sentenced: three and a half years

Fabrizio Miccoli has been sentenced to three and a half years.
The charge against the former Palermo footballer is aggravated extortion.
The sentence came, after eight hours of council chamber, from the Gup of the Palermo Court Walter Turturici.
For the rosanero’s ‘Romario del Salento’, the prosecutor had asked for a four-year sentence.
Miccoli, a former player for Juventus, Fiorentina and the Portuguese Benfica team, among others, was present in the courtroom and did not comment on the sentence. Unlike his lawyer, Giovanni Castronovo. “We are stunned by a ruling in total disagreement with what the Palermo court has already ruled. We will appeal with all our might for the restoration of the rule of law that we believe has been violated,” he said.
