Return to the past for Luca Caldirola

Benevento Calcio is moving in the market. The club’s priority is to fix the defense, with the need to bring in an experienced central that will broaden the options available to coach Floro Flores. The most recent rumors lead insistently to Luca Caldirola. The defender originally from Desio would be close to a surprise return to the Giallorossi, a hypothesis that has been evaluated for some time also for personal reasons. There would not have been a lack of a survey by Salernitana, but the player’s will would have directed the choice toward Benevento, where he has already been a protagonist from 2019 to 2021 before settling at Monza.

Caldirola could free himself from Folgore Caratese, a formation in the running for Serie C that would lose its captain. To facilitate the operation, Benevento would be willing to pay a symbolic compensation to the Brianza club, useful to close the negotiation quickly.

This season the defender, with a past between Werder Bremen and Inter, has totaled twelve appearances and three assists, numbers that tell of a still reliable condition. Even the recent exclusion against Varesina, against which the Criscitiello-boys drew with untouched goals, could be read as a sign of a deal now well underway.

If all goes smoothly, Caldirola will sign a six-month contract. At the end of the season, on June 30, club and player will sit down again to decide on the future based on performance and contribution to the Giallorossi cause.
