Jannik Sinner-Carlos Alcaraz: third wheel comes to Roland Garros according to famous coach

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have been on a roll for the past two years, in which they have imposed a duopoly rarely seen in the past at such a level of superiority. However, according to famed coach Patrick Mouratoglou, their dominance may soon be challenged.
According to Serena Williams’ former coach, Arthur Fils after his victory in Barcelona is a candidate for a starring role in the coming years. “If you are looking for the name of the third player who can stand at the level of Alcaraz and Sinner, what Arthur Fils has shown in the last few weeks puts him right into the discussion,” Mouratoglou said on Instagram.
In 2025 Fils had been out of action for several months due to a stress fracture in his back, an injury that appeared during Roland Garros and forced him to miss the next three Grand Slam tournaments. Now he has fully recovered and is ready to move up a level.
“Arthur has incredible charisma. After the injury he lost six kilos and now he moves on the court with impressive lightness. He has changed because he is leaner. For most players, a serious injury represents the most difficult time in their career. On the other hand, being able to enjoy the whole recovery process, working hard every day with the mantra “I will come back stronger than before,” shows an extraordinary mentality. I always say that the best in the world enjoy the process more than the results.”
Fils returned after the Australian Open and in recent months reached the final in Doha, the quarterfinals in Indian Wells, and the semifinals in Miami before imposing himself in Barcelona. Great things are expected of him at Roland Garros, where he will be the undisputed darling of the fans.
