After days of growing internal friction, Roma is preparing to bid a surprise farewell to Claudio Ranieri. The relationship between the senior advisor and the Giallorossi club is now in the headlines, especially following the recent differences that have emerged with Gian Piero Gasperini. According to Sky Sport reports, the parties are in the process of defining the severing of ties, and official statements are forthcoming.

The day in Rome was particularly intense. Shortly before tensions within the club rose further, Claudio Ranieri had spoken at an event on Capitol Hill, breaking the silence in reassuring tones: “Now we are all united and focused on one goal,” the Giallorossi manager had declared. However, developments in recent days have made an early end to the relationship inevitable. At the heart of the rift are profoundly different technical visions between Ranieri and Gasperini.

For the former senior advisor, Roma’s revival had to pass through the enhancement of the young talent in the squad. Gasperini, on the other hand, pushed hard for the inclusion of established, ready-made players, such as Malen and Wesley. A divergence of views appeared irremediable from the very first lines. A curious and bitter coincidence: Ranieri may be leaving “his” Roma on the very days when the tenth anniversary of the most legendary triumph of his career occurs. Not in the Giallorossi colors, but in Leicester’s. It was May 2, 2016 when the Italian coach accomplished the most incredible sporting feat of the new millennium, surprisingly winning the Premier League at the helm of the Foxes. A bittersweet anniversary for Ranieri, who is preparing to close his second Roman experience amid tensions and internal divisions.

With Claudio Ranieri’s exit from the scene, other key figures wanted by the manager also remain in the balance. In particular, the stay of sporting director Frederic Massara, who returned to Roma in June 2025 precisely on Ranieri’s instructions, is at risk. The same fate could befall the first-team medical staff, also chosen and strongly desired by the Friedkin’s senior advisor. The official announcement of the separation is now awaited, which could come as early as in the next few hours.

Despite the uncertainty hovering over Ranieri’s future, the team’s preparation for Saturday afternoon’s delicate away match in Bologna is proceeding without change. Gian Piero Gasperini’s press conference, scheduled for Friday morning in Trigoria, is confirmed.
