Carlos Alcaraz will be forced to miss the Internazionali d’Italia and Roland Garros due to a right wrist injury, which turned out to be much more serious than expected. As a result, the Spaniard will not be able to defend the titles he won in Rome and Paris and will also forgo a possible rematch against Jannik Sinner after Monte Carlo. For the Italian, however, an important scenario opens up, with the concrete possibility of completing the Career Grand Slam right at Roland Garros.

Sinner is not laughing anyway because he is a great friend of Alcaraz and has never hidden how stimulating he finds challenges with him. At the same time, however, the Spaniard’s absence offers him a significant opportunity. Without his main rival, who between Rome and Paris defends a total of 3,000 points as defending champion, Sinner will be able to increase his lead in the rankings and consolidate his position, moving closer to his goal of ending the season as world No. 1 for the second time.

In Madrid, moreover, Sinner is set to become the player with the highest prize money in the 2026 season, overtaking Alcaraz himself. And if the Spaniard were to skip Rome and Paris as well, the Italian could overtake him in total career earnings as well.

On a sporting level, Sinner now presents himself as a big favorite both at the Internazionali d’Italia, where an Italian winner has been missing since Adriano Panatta, and at Roland Garros, a tournament he has listed as his main goal for the season, being the only Slam he still lacks to complete the Career Grand Slam.
