Aniello Longobardi celebrates promotion with yet another inhibition

In the aftermath of the match between Rimini and Scafati, which ended 80-76 for the Gialloblù who, thanks to the two points obtained, won direct promotion to the top division, the Sports Justice of the Italian Basketball Federation examined some episodes reported in the report, taking action against Scafati’s patron, Aniello Longobardi, and the Romagna club, for objective responsibility regarding a spitting throw that hit the referees of the match.
The following, as reported by the FIP note published on Monday, are the decisions of the sports justice:
GIVOVA SCAFATI – LONGOBARDI ANIELLO (Scafati) – 10-day inhibition until 6/5/2026, because, not registered on the scoreboard, at the end of the 2nd quarter, he entered the tunnel of the locker room, holding a disrespectful behavior towards the referees (artt.35,1c and 24,4 RG).
DOLE ITALIA RIMINI – Fine of Euro 2,500.00 for collective and sporadic offenses by fans towards the referees and collective and sporadic throwing of spit that on 2 occasions, hit the referees [art. 27,4bc RG rec.,art. 27,9ac RG rec,art. 24.4 RG].
Scafati, with 52 points in the standings as a result of 26 wins and 10 losses, overcame competition from Pesaro and Fortitudo Bologna, which were stopped at 50 and forced into the playoffs: the red-and-whites and Effe will start from the quarterfinals along with Verona, Cividale, Rieti and Brindisi, joined by the two play-in winners that will see Avellino and Rimini as seeded while Libertas Livorno, JuVi Cremona, Torino and Urania Milano will start from the preliminary round.
