Pernat peremptory on Marc Marquez and Ducati: "Nobody expected it"

Carlo Pernat at the microphones of GPOne.com took stock of the MotoGP World Championship after the first four races. The factory Ducati team also disappointed in Jerez: “We had the litmus test of the first European race, and really everything happened. Two Ducati victories, one in the Sprint with Marc Márquez and one in the Grand Prix with Alex, but then comes the official Ducati’s overcoat. Zero points in the GP. Márquez falls for a mistake of his own, Bagnaia unfortunately continues in a line we already know. And then the title comes almost by itself: Aprilia escapes.”
The world champion is still far from the best condition: “He is not the Márquez we know. He comes from a very difficult period, he came out of hell, he did something incredible last year putting in that extra 20% that only champions have. But today that margin is no longer there. The accident with Bezzecchi, the shoulder again, the winter without a bike … today he is a Márquez who struggles, who makes mistakes, who has to chase. And he himself admits it. But chasing a hare like Aprilia, like Bezzecchi, like Martin, is not easy.”
But Pernat also points the finger at Ducati: “The 2025-2026 bike has problems, it’s obvious. It is not the perfection of the 2024. The riders talk, confront each other, team up with Dall’Igna, look for solutions. But today Ducati is no longer the dominant one. Last year it won also thanks to Márquez, today without a top Márquez it becomes more vulnerable. The real outsider remains Di Giannantonio, who is there, trying, competitive, but still not enough to win.”
The start of the World Championship has thus taken everyone by surprise: “Today the hare is Aprilia and Ducati is forced to chase. And this, honestly, at the beginning of the year no one expected it.”
