Juventus, stint with Verona: Vlahovic’s return to scoring not enough

Not a win for Juventus, which in the 35th day of Serie A wasted a great opportunity to climb to third place. The Bianconeri did not take advantage of Milan’s defeat and missed the hooking, stopping at 1-1 against a Verona already relegated to Serie B.

The home team started strongly and immediately created several chances, but found a decisive Montipò in its way: the goalkeeper opposed first Kelly and then an inspired Conceiçao, clearly the best on the field. David doesn’t frame the goal and Bremer also hits a crossbar, before the resounding disadvantage: Bremer’s own mistake in the exit, Bradaric serves Bowie who beats Di Gregorio for the 1-0 in the 34th minute.

Juventus looks confused and even risks the doubling, then looks to equalize with Cambiaso, but closes the first half under in the score. In the resumption, the reaction is immediate: in comes Vlahovic, who changes the pace of the attack and in the 61st minute finds the 1-1 with a treacherous free kick that surprises Montipò, who is not impeccable.

From then on, it’s just Juventus. Conceiçao twice came close to taking the lead and in the recovery Zhegrova also hit a post. Despite the final pressure, the result does not change: it ends 1-1 against Hellas. Juve rises to 65 points and is fourth, -2 from Milan, with Roma able to move closer to the Champions zone. Verona remains penultimate with 20 points, already mathematically relegated.
