After the Sassari challenge, coach Nenad Jakovljevic analyzed the performance of his Virtus Bologna in a press conference, dwelling especially on the initial approach and the reaction shown in the course of the match. “We started not very well, we suffered Sassari’s aggressiveness, which we expected, trying to cope with it with too many individual solutions and not as a team, we got nervous,” the coach explained, underlining the difficulties encountered by the team in the first minutes.

Jakovljevic then highlighted the group’s ability to change pace during the course of the match, finding more balance on both sides of the court. “Then of course the game lasts 40′, the reaction was there, as was the defensive discipline and energy, especially in the third quarter which is what won us the game.”

The victory on the Dynamo’s court also had immediate implications for the fight for salvation. In fact, the Black Vu’s success doomed Sassari, which was coming into the game with 14 points in the standings, allowing Cantù and Treviso to celebrate staying in Serie A. The Brianzoli, although defeated at home by Treviso at PalaDesio, were able to rejoice thanks to the Sardinians’ knockout: a double celebration that made Sunday afternoon particularly full of emotions for the teams involved in the salvation race.
The Sassari result confirms the momentum of Virtus Bologna, which had already presented itself at PalaSerradimigni as the leader with 42 points in the standings. The V-nere had recovered several important elements after a period of emergency, including Alessandro Pajola and Luca Vildoza, factors that certainly contributed to the solidity shown during the course of the game, especially in the second half.
