Inter market: deal for Solet, but a world champion is sacrificed

Inter Milan has identified Oumar Solet as the key pivot on which to build the defense of the future, breaking the deadlock and initiating close contacts with Udinese. With the uncertain permanence of Alessandro Bastoni and the goodbyes of De Vrij and Acerbi, the French center-back, who has jumped to the top of the wish list of the Nerazzurri top brass, represents the perfect combination of athletic exuberance and reliability, qualities needed to ensure a high-level generational replacement. An agreement in principle seems to have already been reached between the Milanese club and the player, testifying to the defender’s firm desire to marry the Inter project to finally measure himself with the most prestigious stages of European soccer.
The exponential growth of the player under the technical management of Kosta Runjaić has not gone unnoticed, thanks to dominant performances in aerial duels and a remarkable quickness in covering depth in addition to a marked technique with the ball at the foot. These characteristics have prompted the Viale della Liberazione management to accelerate market operations, seeing in the transalpine the designated heir to maintain the watertightness of the backline. However, the negotiation does not appear to be going downhill: Udinese confirms itself as a very expensive store and does not appear willing to grant concessions on the value of the card, remaining firm on an important economic valuation.
In this ever-evolving market scenario, the interest of Chelsea, which has been on the French talent’s trail for some time and is ready to assert its financial firepower, remains to be monitored with extreme attention. Inter intends to play in advance, leveraging the preference already expressed by Solet for the Italian destination, in an attempt to neutralize the possible inclusion of the Blues. The upcoming confrontations between the two clubs will therefore be watershed in order to establish the economic contours of a deal that is firmly entering its hottest and most decisive phase.
For one defender who could land, there is instead another who will most likely say goodbye in the next market window. On the foot of departure is Benjamin Pavard: Olympique Marseille will not redeem the Frenchman for the agreed 15 million, sending him back to Appiano Gentile next June 30. Despite the defender’s desire to play his chances at the Nerazzurri, the management has different plans. The goal of Viale della Liberazione is a decisive restyling of the backroom, favoring younger and more physically integral profiles than the former Bayern man. For Pavard, therefore, the return to Milan appears to be a brief bureaucratic stopover while waiting for a new arrangement that will allow the club to monetize and make room for new graft.
