Perugia to dream in Turin, is in Champions League final

Clear success and great show this afternoon at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, where the CEV Champions League Final Four opened. Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia dominated the semifinal against PGE Projekt Warszawa, imposing themselves 3-0 and thus winning their second consecutive European final, in addition to qualification for the next edition of the Club World Cup. Decisive was the Umbrian’s clear dominance in the first two sets, which steered the match from the start.
The Italian champions and holders of the trophy will be back on court tomorrow, Sunday, May 17, at 8:30 p.m., again in the Turin facility, to defend the title they won last season. On the other side of the net they will find the winner of the second semifinal between Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie of Poland and Ziraat Bankkart Ankara of Turkey, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. tonight.
Angelo Lorenzetti’s team handled the challenge with authority, despite having to deal with two delicate moments: the physical problem suffered by Ben Tara in the second set and the Polish comeback attempt in the third partial, solved in the advantages thanks to Plotnytskyi’s final ace. The Tunisian opposite finished with 18 points, while Loser, Semeniuk and Plotnytskyi himself also went into double figures. Giannelli’s contribution as director and Colaci in the second line were also crucial.
The PGE Projekt Warszawa, without Bednorz, relied mainly on the shots of Gomułka, top scorer of the match with 19 points, and Tillie, author of 12 points. The Poles were not satisfied with the pride reaction shown in the third set, when they tried to reopen the match thanks to an effective set on serve.
