Adamonis saves everything: Bari relegated to Serie C, Sudtirol saved

Bari is relegated to Serie C: the Serie B playout match at the Druso Stadium between Sudtirol and the Galletti ended 0-0. After a deadlocked first leg match at the San Nicola, the return match also ended goalless: a result that condemns the Pugliese to relegation to the third division, by virtue of the worst placement in the league.
A lively first half, the two teams hit a post on each side: the guests through Rao, the Alto Adige team through Molina. In the second half, Sudtirol found the lead through Pecorino, but the goal was cancelled out due to a foul by the same player on Dickmann after VAR intervention.
The guests threw themselves forward in desperate search for the goal of permanence in the cadet series, but Sudtirol goalkeeper Adamonis stood out by parrying a close-range shot by Gykjaer in the 73′, and then repeating himself in the 89′. The last assaults were to no avail for Bari, which had to surrender: Sudtirol saved.
For the Apulian “biancorossi” it was a relegation that had been missing on the field for more than 40 years, precisely since the 1982-1983 season. It should be recalled, however, that the last appearance in Serie C was in 2022, when the club was forced to rise from the minor categories after bankruptcy in 2018 and the subsequent restart from Serie D.
With this relegation Bari joins Pescara, Reggiana and Spezia in Serie C, the three teams already condemned to the third series at the end of the regular season. Instead, Vicenza, Arezzo and Benevento rise from Serie C, with a fourth team joining at the conclusion of the third-series playoffs. For Luigi De Laurentiis’s club, already at the center of a strong protest by fans throughout the season, a phase of deep reflection on the club’s future now opens.
