Milan market, Luka Modric clarifies on his future

All Milan midfielder Luka Modric to Sportmediaset confirmed that he will play against Cagliari: “I feel good and I am improving physically, I am back training with the team, I am already getting used to the mask. I am ready to come back. I really want to come back and play, outside you suffer because you can’t help your teammates as it happened with Genoa for example. Obviously Allegri will decide but I’m available.”
On his contract renewal, the Croatian national takes time: “I’m very happy in Milan but the most important thing now is the game against Cagliari on Sunday and Champions qualification. For the rest we will see, I have good relations with the club, with the management, with the coach. When I chose Milan it was to lend a hand and try to win, this year it didn’t happen but it is clear that I would like to win a trophy with Milan.”
On a future as a collaborator with Allegri: “I have a good relationship with him but we haven’t talked about this. I still enjoy playing soccer, when I retire I will think about it. When will I retire? I don’t know, let’s see after Sunday….” Still on the coach from Livorno, Modric speaks clearly: “He prepares matches well, he has personality, I am happy to work with him, he is a great coach, he achieved great results with Milan and Juve, he is back in the Rossoneri and he is doing an outstanding job.”
The Croatian midfielder’s future in the Rossoneri seems to be increasingly leaning towards staying. According to leaks in recent weeks, Modric’s contract includes an option for an additional year, until June 30, 2027, which the player could activate after the World Cup with Croatia. AC Milan, Allegri and the locker room are pushing compactly in this direction, and today’s statements from the direct interested party seem to go exactly in that direction. Allegri, for his part, has also reportedly placed Modric’s confirmation among the conditions of his own permanence, proving how much the Croatian has become an indispensable pillar of the Rossoneri’s technical project.
