The State Police has launched a major road safety awareness campaign and has chosen an exceptional testimonial to amplify the message and try to reach as many people as possible: Kimi Antonelli.

The Mercedes driver, through the State Police’s social channels, sent a message addressing especially young people: “If someone wants to go fast, let him go to the track. There are circuits where you can have sessions with your car to let off steam. By going fast on the road you can put not only your health at risk, but also the health of others, it is important that you respect the speed limits and all the necessary regulations.”

Antonelli had the perfect weekend in Monte Carlo with pole and victory in the Monaco Grand Prix and has a 66-point margin over Lewis Hamilton, who is second in the overall standings. The lowest step of the podium is currently occupied by Antonelli’s partner George Russell, who is certainly not having an easy time.

After the Monaco Grand Prix, the British driver did not mince words: “Two GPs in a row and 40 points thrown away. The team said I did nothing wrong about speeding in the pit lane: it was a software problem,” he said in relation to one of Sunday’s penalties.

We don’t know where it came from. A five-second penalty is not ideal, but it’s not the end of the world. And then of course came the drive-through when I was in P3 for not properly serving the previous penalty.”
