Torino is stepping up its efforts to sign Diego Mascardi from Spezia. The goalkeeper, born in 2006 and a member of the Under-21 national team, has long been on the Granata club’s radar, and they have decided to significantly accelerate negotiations in recent hours.

Toro is working on a permanent transfer for the player: it will be one of the first signings of the new Abate era. According to reports in Il Secolo XIX, the deal is in an advanced stage, so much so that rumors are already circulating about the percentage of the player’s future resale, estimated at around 20%.

Last season, Mascardi defended the goal for Spezia in Serie B, playing 17 league matches and one in the Coppa Italia, but he was unable to prevent the Bianconeri’s relegation to Serie C. Having come up through the youth ranks of the Ligurian club, he was also scouted by Juventus, which ultimately decided against making a move.

Torino is expected to pay Spezia approximately 1.5 million euros. It remains to be seen whether the Piedmontese club will immediately send him out on loan to give him playing time and help him develop, or whether they will keep him on the roster for next season.
