The Oltrepò Pavese region is one of the most fascinating destinations for those who wish to combine nature, culture, and culinary excellence. In fact, tourism in this part of Lombardy draws its strength from its winemaking traditions, its rich culinary heritage, and its invaluable environmental and historical heritage. Every year, its hills attract wine enthusiasts, history buffs, and outdoor enthusiasts seeking trails immersed in nature.

The only region in Lombardy located south of the Po River, the Oltrepò stretches between Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont, offering an extraordinary variety of landscapes ranging from the plains to vine-covered hills, all the way to the Apennine Mountains. The vineyards that characterize the region gradually give way to forests of oak, chestnut, and beech trees along the slopes leading to the peaks of Mounts Chiappo, Lesima, and Penice. On the clearest days, it is even possible to catch a glimpse of the Ligurian Sea from certain vantage points. It is no coincidence that the geographical shape of the Oltrepò resembles that of a large bunch of grapes reaching toward the Apennines.

The diversity of the landscape is accompanied by a particularly rich history. Over the centuries, the region has been the scene of a succession of feudal lords, religious powers, and great noble families. From the Malaspina to San Colombano di Bobbio, including the Visconti, Sforza, Beccaria, and Dal Verme families, numerous forces have helped shape its identity. These historical events, combined with the frequent passage of armies and influences from various regions, have given rise to a rich cultural and linguistic fusion that still characterizes the different areas of the Oltrepò today.

It is precisely this region that inspires Antonio Faravelli, a winemaker and golfer from Montù Beccaria, owner of Cantine Vitea and creator of the “Golf and Wine 1895” project. The entrepreneur was the exclusive guest of honor at the 2026 Golf Cup organized by Ake Group at the prestigious Villa Paradiso Golf Club, where he presented both his wines and the project dedicated to promoting the union of golf, the local territory, and wine culture.

Once again, the public response was extremely positive. Great appreciation was shown for the revitalization project promoted by Faravelli, but above all for the Cantine Vitea wines, which won over the participants, confirming the quality and excellence of a production deeply rooted in the traditions and identity of the Oltrepò Pavese region.
