Rumors of his potential departure have been circulating for some time. Now it’s official. Giannis Antetokounmpo will no longer play for the Milwaukee Bucks. Next season, he’ll be wearing a Miami Heat jersey. It’s a sensational trade, given the stature of “The Greek Freak.”

As reported by ESPN, Giannis Antetokounmpo is heading to Miami along with Bobby Portis in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three future first-round NBA draft picks, a pick swap, and a second-round pick. In short, the Heat have “invested” heavily to acquire him.

Miami once again has an All-Star on its roster, reminiscent of the days when the James-Bosh-Wade trio dominated the league. For Giannis Antetokounmpo, at 31, this is an opportunity to start fresh elsewhere and try to win another NBA championship (he won his first and only one in 2021 with the Bucks).

The Greek All-Star is leaving Milwaukee after 13 years. He has won the MVP award twice (2028–19 and 2019–20). Miami literally went wild at the news that the trade had gone through.
