Sportal.it Exclusive: Diego Nargiso Isn’t Worried About Jannik Sinner’s Return

The Wimbledon tournament is just around the corner. Jannik Sinner, who has been sidelined since May 28 (after being eliminated in the second round of Roland Garros), is ready to return to the court and defend the title he won last year at the Championships. We spoke with the excellent columnist Diego Nargiso, who, exclusively for Sportal.it, had this to say about the world No. 1’s return.
Diego, what do you expect from Jannik Sinner’s return to the court?
“I have the same feeling I get before a Grand Slam tournament in which he’s competing. I’m certain he’s ready.”
Could his second-round loss at Roland Garros to Juan Manuel Cerundolo affect him?
“No, it was just an isolated incident that in no way diminishes what Jannik has accomplished over this entire period. In fact, that loss—given how it happened—is already in the past.”
Jannik Sinner is one of the favorites. Is there anyone in particular to keep an eye on?
“Sasha Zverev, after winning his first Grand Slam, is more relaxed. We’ll see what he can do, even though he’s never really impressed at Wimbledon. Then there are the usual names who do well on hard courts, like Fritz, Shelton, and the Czech Mensik, who could also be a surprise. Then there are the Italians—I wouldn’t underestimate Matteo Berrettini.”
