Transfer Market, Nico Paz: An Unexpected Turn of Events for the Argentine’s Future

Nico Paz’s future seemed all but set, but the transfer market has decided to shake things up anyway. Although Real Madrid exercised the buyback option included in its agreement with Como, bringing the talented Argentine born in 2005 back home after his stint in Serie A, it appears that the Spanish capital club intends to put the Argentine back on the market, with Como holding a sort of right of first refusal.
Real Madrid’s management has informed the Como club that it has one week to decide whether to bring Nico Paz back to the blue-and-white jersey by paying 60 million euros for a permanent transfer, with no possibility of further loans or alternative arrangements. Once that deadline passes, the player will be on the market with a valuation of around 80 million, a figure that could spark an international bidding war.
In the meantime, Real Madrid will pay 9 million euros as agreed before proceeding with the sale.
Como is considering whether to make an investment of this magnitude, but despite the excellent relationship between the player and the white-and-blue club, a turning point is looming that could lead to a move to another Serie A club, Inter, which—following the disappointment of Marco Palestra’s failed transfer (he is headed to Chelsea barring further twists)—is reportedly ready to enter into negotiations with Real Madrid and the player’s entourage, whose father was a national teammate of Inter legend Javier Zanetti.
However, the lure of the Premier League must not be overlooked. Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham is ready to enter the fray, bolstered by the coach’s long-standing admiration for the Argentine. Arsenal and Manchester United also remain in the background; they have already tested the waters with Real Madrid and possess financial “firepower” that should not be underestimated.
