Virtus Bologna Transfer News: Nicola Akele’s Departure Is Official; His Future Is Already Set

Nikola Akele’s time with Virtus Bologna has come to an end. The Bologna club bid farewell to the forward, born in 1995, with warm words: “Thank you, Nik. Two seasons in black and white, a key player in the 2024–25 Scudetto victory, and a model of dedication and passion, both on the court and in the locker room. We wish you the best for the rest of your career,” read the social media post.
The player himself also took to LinkedIn to thank Virtus Bologna, highlighting one particular point: “Happy to have been part of the team that won the Scudetto in 2025,” reads the post in which he bid farewell to Virtus Bologna.
At this point, the question is where the 30-year-old Italian national team player will play next year. In fact, barring any surprises, he will join the Olimpia Milano roster.
The red-and-white club is looking for Italian players who can help Coach Peppe Poeta, especially in the LBA, and Nicola Akele seems like the perfect fit for Olimpia Milano’s needs.
