Fresh off the league championship final with Reyer Venezia, Alessandro Lever is already looking ahead to the new season, in which he’ll take center stage wearing the yellow-and-blue jersey of Scafati Basket. The Italian big man, 27 years old, 208 centimeters tall, and weighing 104 kg, can play both power forward and center. A versatile player with a good shot, he possesses a wide range of technical skills both facing the basket and with his back to it.

He came up through the youth system of Piani Bolzano, the city where he was born, and then moved to Pallacanestro Reggiana at a very young age. In 2017, he chose to pursue a college career in the United States: he spent four seasons at Grand Canyon University, becoming the second-most frequent player in the university’s history and its third-highest all-time scorer. In 2018, he was named “Freshman of the Year” by the Western Athletic Conference, and in 2021, he was selected to the conference’s All-Conference First Team. He concluded his American experience by earning a degree in Business Management.

Upon returning to Italy, he played two seasons with Pallacanestro Trieste, then one season with Napoli Basket, with whom he won the Italian Cup, and finally last season with Reyer Venezia.

“I’m very happy and excited to have signed with Scafati Basket,” Lever said. “After speaking with Coach Piero Bucchi, who outlined the goals for next season, I decided immediately and with conviction to accept. I’m training hard to be ready for the preseason. I can’t wait to get started—see you soon! Go Scafati!” The addition of the South Tyrolean player also strengthens the Italian contingent, which has already welcomed Marco Ceron among its new arrivals—he, too, is a new player for Scafati Basket.
