2026 World Cup: Shameful Racist Insults; Mbappé Responds Harshly to a Senator

More racist attacks against Kylian Mbappé and France from Paraguay following Les Bleus’ victory over La Albirroja in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. A senator from the South American country, Celeste Amarilla, harshly attacked the Real Madrid star, hurling racist epithets at him.
After scoring the penalty and then in the final minutes of the match, Mbappé had some tense moments with the Paraguayan defenders, to which he responded with laughter and taunts. Amarilla’s post on X was extremely harsh: “A colonized Cameroonian who shamelessly pretends to be French—spiteful, newly rich, arrogant, and ugly. He was nervous and scared the entire game, just like his whole team; they couldn’t even score a single goal—they won by the skin of their teeth…”
The senator then continued: “The only thing we hold against the Albirroja players is that they didn’t slap him with an open hand after the game ended. And to think I’m not even a soccer fan.” And she added: “This brute hasn’t even learned to write; instead of breast milk, he sucked on coconuts, and the most educated thing he ever heard was ‘chimpanzees.’ I wish I’d flipped him off, Orlando Gill—I do that in the Senate and nothing happens.”
Mbappé couldn’t hold back after the insults and responded harshly: “Ms. Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, a country that has exuded passion and honor throughout the entire tournament. Because of your blatant racism, the whole world has already forgotten the historic journey and effort made by your players during this World Cup, making way for an incompetent woman who projects the worst possible image of her country. I will never allow people like you the freedom to spread your hatred and racism throughout the world.”
