Atalanta is looking to the future and continues to focus on young talent to strengthen its offense. Among the players on the Bergamo club’s radar is Assane Diao, an attacking winger for Como who, despite a season marred by injuries, remains one of the most promising prospects on the European scene.

Diao is one of the most intriguing prospects. Born in 2005 and holding dual Spanish and Senegalese citizenship, he came up through the youth system at Real Betis, even representing Spain’s youth national teams before choosing to play for Senegal at the international level.

His breakthrough came with Como, where he showcased technical ability, speed, and a remarkable knack for scoring goals. In Serie A, he has already scored 10 goals in 32 total appearances, although last season he was hampered by various physical issues that limited him to just 17 appearances and a little over 1,000 minutes on the field.

In Bergamo, the 2005-born player could find the ideal environment to relaunch his career. Atalanta, in fact, continues to seek an attacking winger capable of providing unpredictability and depth, especially in a lineup that could undergo significant changes in the coming weeks.

The Nerazzurri club’s plan is to replicate a move similar to the one that brought Ademola Lookman to Bergamo in the summer of 2022. At the time, the Nigerian forward arrived from Leicester after a lackluster season and, having been signed for approximately 10 million euros, went on to become one of the key figures in Dea’s rise.
