Roma Transfer Market: Gasperini Wants Real Madrid’s Rising Star

Roma is a work in progress, and following the signings of Santiago Castro and Konstantinos Koulierakis and the permanent acquisition of Donyell Malen, Gian Piero Gasperini wants to strengthen the team with a new attacking player. The profile is clear: the Roma manager wants a young player with great technical ability who can play in various positions on the field.

Gasperini’s big dream is Endrick of Real Madrid, fresh off a season on loan at Lyon where he scored 5 goals in 16 appearances. The very young Brazilian is eager to prove himself but knows he might not get much playing time at Real Madrid.

José Mourinho has not yet made a final decision on the young star’s future, but if he decides not to count on him, Roma would most likely make a move. A direct purchase is practically impossible; a loan with an option to buy and a buyback clause in favor of the Blancos is much more likely—a common practice for Florentino Pérez’s club.

Endrick’s transfer from Real Madrid to Roma would only be possible if Matias Soulé were sold; he is no longer part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans and has already been offered by his representatives to Milan (which, however, must first trim its roster). There has been some interest in the young Argentine from a few English clubs, but no official offers have been made.

“It’s clear that, from here on out, I expect something to happen. Several players have left, and the team definitely needs to be rounded out—anyone can see that. Having at least two players per position is essential for teams competing in cup competitions. Those who don’t do so end up paying a heavy price,” said Gasperini after the friendly against Cardiff.
