Milan Transfer Market: Gimenez and Nkunku Have Left; Negotiations Underway for a Top-Tier Forward
Santiago Gimenez is about to leave Milan: the Mexican forward, who has been a major disappointment for the Rossoneri, has reached an agreement with Porto and is set to move to the Portuguese league after a year and a half in Italy. According to reports, the Rossoneri and Porto have reached an agreement for a loan with an option to buy set at around 20 million euros.
The other attacking player set to leave Milan is Christopher Nkunku, who has suitors all across Europe. According to rumors, the two Bundesliga clubs, Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, have so far made concrete offers, but Barcelona is also considering him, and in Italy, Roma could propose a swap deal involving Soulé. The negotiations are being held up by the Frenchman’s high salary, which Amorim has cut.
With the surplus players gone, Milan will make at least one more major signing in the attacking department, especially in the attacking midfield. Several names have been circulating in recent days: a possible return of Brahim Diaz to the Rossoneri is particularly intriguing. The Moroccan international is highly sought after by Amorim and has fallen out of favor at Real Madrid, but he commands a very high salary and isn’t entirely convinced about returning to Italy.
Other candidates include Roma’s Matias Soulé, who has been on their radar for several weeks; Arsenal’s young prospect Nwaneri; Bayer Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza; and Said El Mala, a talented 2006-born player from Cologne. These are all names that have fans dreaming: Milan will make a move as soon as it resolves all outgoing transfer matters.
It’s not just the attack: Milan also needs to trim the roster in midfield. Youssouf Fofana, another player deemed unsuitable by Amorim, is on Juventus’s radar; the club has included him among the candidates to bolster the midfield, as requested by Spalletti. Milan values the Frenchman at around 17–18 million, but the figures could change if a player is included in the deal. Several suitors from the Premier League and La Liga also remain in the background, which could speed up the negotiations.
