Monza Transfer Market: Surprise Interest in the Goalkeeper; Juric Has No Objections

A surprise inquiry for Monza. The newly promoted club’s transfer market continues to evolve; this year, the team is led by Ivan Juric, who is looking to relaunch his career after stints in Rome, Southampton, and Bergamo: Palermo has knocked on Monza’s door.

Jesse Joronen will be sidelined for about two months after suffering an injury in the Coppa Italia match against Lecce. The Finnish goalkeeper’s shoulder injury will force the Sicilian club to find another goalkeeper. Among the names circulating at the moment is Samuel Pizzignacco, a Friulian from Monfalcone born in 2001, who is second in the Biancorossi’s pecking order behind Demba Thiam: the Croatian wouldn’t object to his departure as long as a quality replacement arrives.

But in the last few hours, another option has gained traction: Emil Audero. The Indonesian national team goalkeeper, born in 1997 and owned by Como, is already familiar with the Rosanero environment, having guarded their goal in the second half of the 2024–2025 season. Last season, however, he experienced relegation to Serie B with Cremonese, the club to which he had been loaned by Como. A move to Palermo would therefore mark the third consecutive loan away from Como for a player whose career has been shaped primarily by his five seasons at Sampdoria, followed by a year at Inter and his move to Como in 2024.

His familiarity with the Sicilian environment represents a significant added value in evaluating the deal. Cesc Fabregas, Como’s head coach, does not appear to consider Audero an indispensable player, a circumstance that could facilitate the negotiations. It’s also worth noting that Torino had been monitoring the goalkeeper’s situation last spring: a potential deal with Palermo would definitively rule the Granata out of the running.

It must be said that Audero’s season at Cremonese was not without its difficulties: in February, he was the victim of a serious incident during the match against Inter, when a firecracker exploded near him, stunning him and forcing the game to be suspended for about three minutes. Despite the physical consequences—ear pain, a stiff back, and a cut on his right leg—the goalkeeper chose to remain on the field, demonstrating great character.
