Dolomiti Energia Trentino announced that it has granted Theo Airhienbuwa’s request to terminate the contract signed on July 10, 2025—which would have kept him with the club through June 30, 2029—so that he can play for an American college.

During his time in Trento, Airhienbuwa played in 41 official games across the league and the EuroCup. His best performance in European competition came against Beşiktaş, with 8 points and 2 rebounds in 19 minutes. In the LBA, however, his career high in a black-and-white jersey was 10 points, scored against Reggio Emilia.

It should be noted that Airhienbuwa had already experienced a difficult period during his season with the black-and-whites, missing several EuroCup games due to injury, as was the case in the first leg against Budućnost Voli Podgorica, which Aquila Basket won 96–107 thanks to a top-notch team effort.

The bond between Airhienbuwa and Trento, however, was destined to leave a positive mark even beyond the walls of the PalaTrento. The young basketball player had, in fact, been part of the Italian Under-20 national team led by Alessandro Rossi, winning the European title last summer—an achievement that represented one of the highlights of his young career.

Alessandro Rossi is now the new head coach of Dolomiti Energia Trentino: the club has chosen him as the successor to Massimiliano Cancellieri, signing a two-year contract with him. The Neapolitan coach, born in 1983, built his career in Rieti, Scafati, and Treviso before arriving on the banks of the Adige River, bringing with him the enthusiasm and technical expertise of someone who has successfully developed young talent even at the international level.

“The Club would like to thank Theo for his dedication, professionalism, and contribution during his season in the black-and-white jersey, and wishes him the greatest personal and professional success for the rest of his career,” reads the statement from the Trentino-based club.
