Cagliari Transfer Market: Sardinians Ready to Knock on Napoli’s Door

Gabriele Zappa’s future at Cagliari remains to be seen. The fullback, born in 1999, could in fact leave Sardinia in the final days of the transfer window, with several clubs reportedly expressing interest both in Italy and abroad. Sassuolo remains the main contender, keeping the player firmly in its sights.
This situation has prompted the Rossoblù management to act early to avoid being caught off guard should he leave. Cagliari has not yet decided to part ways with Zappa, but if an offer deemed satisfactory comes along, the situation could change rapidly.
The transfer market is therefore likely to keep the team busy until the very end of the window, while on the field, attention is focused on Saturday’s league opener at the Tardini against Parma. Zappa’s future, in particular, is one of the issues that could drive the final days of negotiations.
Should he be sold, Cagliari has reportedly already identified a potential replacement: Pasquale Mazzocchi. The fullback, who is owned by Napoli, is considered a suitable candidate to take over from Zappa and provide a ready alternative for the league season.
Mazzocchi is coming off a season in which he made a total of 20 appearances for Napoli. His contract situation could also facilitate a potential deal: his contract with Napoli is set to expire in 2027, and the player may find limited playing time under the new coaching staff.
