Former Inter player ends up in Serie D; Sanremese pulls off a major coup

A big surprise in Serie D: Sanremese has signed former Inter player Yann M’Vila. The French midfielder played for Inter between 2014 and 2015 but didn’t have much success there; before accepting the offer from Sanremese, he was playing for Caen.
“Sanremese is pleased to welcome Yann M’Vila, a highly experienced midfielder who has competed at the highest levels of European soccer,” reads the official statement. “The former French international has played for renowned clubs including Rennes, Rubin Kazan, Inter Milan, Sunderland, Saint-Étienne, Olympiacos, West Bromwich Albion, and Caen.”
“Yann brings leadership, quality, and invaluable experience to the heart of our midfield! Welcome to the Sanremese family, Yann!” The signing of the French midfielder has generated tremendous enthusiasm among fans, and many have congratulated the club on the move in the comments section on Instagram.
Yann M’Vila began his career at Rennes, then moved to Rubin Kazan and later to Inter Milan on loan. With the Nerazzurri, he made eight appearances before moving to Sunderland; in 2016, he returned to Russia. Two years later, he joined Saint-Étienne, followed by Olympiakos, West Bromwich, and Caen before signing with Sanremese.
In 2010, he was named to Don Balón’s list of the best soccer players born after 1989, but numerous physical problems, combined with some ill-fated transfers, derailed his career. Now M’Vila is ready to make a comeback in Serie D.
