2026-2027 Serie B: Palermo vs. Juve Stabia, Probable Lineups

After a convincing debut in the Coppa Italia against Lecce, Palermo is ready to begin its Serie B campaign. The Rosanero, among the top contenders for promotion to Serie A, will make their home debut at the Renzo Barbera Stadium against Juve Stabia. The match is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, at 9:00 p.m. and pits two teams against each other that are approaching the game with very different mindsets.
Palermo started the season in the best possible way, defeating Serie A side Lecce in the round of 32 of the Coppa Italia. The Rosanero secured a decisive 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Vavassori and Pohjanpalo, delivering a convincing performance. Filippo Inzaghi can count on a roster built with high ambitions and the goal of achieving the promotion to Serie A that slipped away just a few months ago. However, the club is still active in the transfer market. Joronen’s serious injury—which is expected to sideline him for at least two months—has created a need to find a new goalkeeper. Among the names being considered by the club is Mattia Perin, currently with Juventus.
Juve Stabia’s official debut was decidedly more complicated. The Vespe were eliminated from the Coppa Italia after a heavy 4-1 loss on the road against Frosinone, a newly promoted Serie A team. The Campania-based team is undergoing a period of major rebuilding. The transfer window is still open, so the roster could see further changes in the coming weeks. There’s also been a change on the bench: Ignazio Abate has stepped down as head coach and been replaced by Pietro De Giorgio, who has been tasked with giving the team a new identity.
