Frosinone Transfer Market: Ghedjemis Is in a Hurry, Cheddira on Standby: Alvini Remains Hopeful
Following the transfer market controversy that emerged in recent days—and was subsequently downplayed by President Maurizio Stirpe—Massimiliano Alvini, after the narrow loss to Juve, prefers to focus exclusively on the field. The coach emphasized the importance of the home opener in the league, avoiding any discussion of transfer market dynamics, which fall outside his purview.
Regarding Ghedjemis, however, he expressed great admiration, describing him as a top-tier player and reiterating his desire to continue coaching him, considering him a key player capable of making a difference in Frosinone’s fight to avoid relegation.
The Algerian playmaker, born in 2002 and who arrived in Ciociaria in January 2024, is one of the most talked-about players of this transfer window. Last season, Ghedjemis made 38 appearances and scored 15 goals across the league and the Coppa Italia, statistics that have made him one of the most sought-after players on the roster. His experience at the World Cup with the Algerian national team has also contributed to a further rise in his market value. Two foreign clubs are reportedly making a strong push for him: Monaco, which has reportedly already submitted a new offer to Frosinone and is currently the player’s preferred destination, and Besiktas, which—after signing Dusan Vlahovic—might try to enter the fray with a more lucrative contract. Meanwhile, the two Scottish clubs that had expressed interest in recent weeks—Celtic and Rangers—appear to have stepped back.
Sporting director Renzo Castagnini also commented on the Algerian’s situation, explaining that the player has appeared somewhat unfocused at the moment due to transfer rumors and that, for this reason, the decision was made not to field him. Talks regarding his future will resume shortly.
The name Walid Cheddira represents a concrete and emotionally significant option for the Giallazzurri camp. The Moroccan forward, owned by Napoli, previously played for Frosinone during the 2023–24 season, leaving a great impression with seven goals in 36 league appearances plus one goal in the Coppa Italia. Napoli is ready to sell him outright, as he no longer fits into the club’s plans, and Frosinone is banking on the player’s strong connection to the Ciociaria region. The competition, however, is real: Verona has also made a strong push in recent weeks. What could tip the scales is Cheddira’s own desire, as he has already demonstrated in the past—by turning down Monza during the winter transfer window—that he wants to stay in Serie A at all costs.
