Fiorentina Transfer Market: A Clear Decision on Moise Kean—The Future Path Is Set
Moise Kean’s future remains one of the hottest topics of this phase of the summer transfer window, and the decision by Fabio Grosso, Fiorentina’s coach, just before kickoff of the league opener at Roma seems to be more than just a hint. The forward was left out of the starting lineup, with Mateo Pellegrino taking his place: Como is keeping a close eye on the situation, having been in talks with Fiorentina for some time to bring him to the shores of Lake Como and compete with him in the upcoming Champions League.
The reassurances offered at the press conference—where Grosso himself had spoken of a Kean who was “motivated for the match at the Olimpico”—vanished within a few hours. The player could leave in the coming days, and the sense is that the coaching staff has already taken note of this. Moreover, Kean’s departure would force Fiorentina’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici, to find another striker—a task that is far from simple, especially with the transfer window nearing its end and limited budgets.
Born in 2000, Moise Kean burst onto the scene at Juventus before he was even of legal age. He played for the Bianconeri’s first team before going on to play for Hellas Verona, Everton, PSG, Juventus again, and, starting in 2024, Fiorentina. With Fiorentina, he had played a total of 78 matches across the league, Coppa Italia, and Conference League as of last season, scoring 35 goals.
Kean has also represented the national team since 2018: his debut came on November 20 of that year in a friendly against the United States, while his first goal came in his very next appearance—a 2-0 win over Finland on March 23, 2019, in a Euro 2020 qualifying match. Although he did not participate in the victorious 2021 European Championship, he returned to the Italian national team in late 2023, bringing his total to 26 appearances and 13 goals, the last of which—unfortunately in vain—was scored in Zenica against Bosnia in the World Cup playoff in March, a match lost on penalty kicks.
