Three-time 500cc World Champion Kenny Roberts spoke about Marc Márquez and his current situation in MotoGP in an interview on the Pipe Dreams podcast. According to the American legend, the Catalan rider never really clicked with the Ducati, despite winning the title in 2025.

“Marc has never really felt comfortable on this bike, not like he did on his early Hondas. His riding style is different from everyone else’s, and I think he needs a bike designed for that style,” Roberts said. Rider No. 93 is currently struggling for technical and physical reasons: “But above all, I don’t think he currently has a bike designed specifically for him. What should they do—design the bike for everyone or for him? Obviously, they have to design it for him.”

At the heart of the Catalan champion’s difficulties is, above all, his right shoulder, which underwent surgery last November and has not yet fully recovered. “My right arm isn’t the same as it was last year; it isn’t the same as it was in the first part of the season. It’s a different right arm,” Marquez admitted.

Team principal Davide Tardozzi, following the renewal of Marquez’s contract through 2028, had words of great praise for the rider: “Marc is incredible and never ceases to amaze me. We know exactly what his physical condition is, and what he’s doing is superhuman. He’s doing what no other rider could do in his physical condition.”
