Genoa Transfer Market: Two Exciting Signings to Make Daniele De Rossi Happy

Genoa is looking for a forward to round out its attack and is considering Stephan El Shaarawy. The former Italian national team player, who became a free agent after leaving Roma in June, knows Daniele De Rossi well and would gladly return to Genoa, the club that launched his professional career.

El Shaarawy joined Genoa’s youth academy at age 14 in 2006, and just two years later, Gian Piero Gasperini gave him his professional debut at age 16 against Chievo in Serie A. El Shaarawy was the driving force behind the Rossoblù’s Primavera team, winning the league title and the Coppa Italia, while he played only three games for Genoa before moving on loan to Padova and then on a permanent transfer to Milan.

El Shaarawy has turned down offers from Saudi Arabia and would be willing to return, according to *Il Secolo XIX*.

In midfield, the Ligurian club has reportedly set its sights on Rolando Mandragora, who is leaving Fiorentina. The Fiorentina midfielder is also being pursued by Ajax but would prefer to stay in Italy: Daniele De Rossi is putting strong pressure on the club’s management to bring him in.

For Mandragora himself, it would also be a return to his roots: the midfielder, in fact, developed as a player in Genoa’s youth academy before embarking on a career that took him to Pescara, Juventus, Crotone, Udinese, and Torino. Fiorentina values the player at around 10 million euros, a figure Genoa will try to negotiate by leveraging the player’s desire to join them, as his contract with the Viola expires in 2028.
