The London club, which in June secured Marco Palestra for 55 million euros (a figure that could rise to 60 million upon the fulfillment of various bonuses), is in fact getting closer to signing another young star from Atalanta’s roster: Honest Ahanor. And in this case as well, the deal involves staggering figures: a whopping 40 million.

This is the offer that, according to ‘Sky Sport,’ Chelsea has presented to Atalanta, which is reportedly giving it serious consideration. After all, Ahanor is a player who has yet to prove himself in Maurizio Sarri’s system (Sarri has, in fact, tried him out both as a center back and a left fullback, after a career spent entirely as a left back in a three-man defense). Furthermore, the defender—born in 2008—despite his great talent and already strong personality, has been hampered by a few minor injuries that limited his breakthrough as early as last season. Finally, a detail that shouldn’t be overlooked: the Nerazzurri acquired him from Genoa for 18 million. Selling him for 40 would therefore represent yet another masterstroke in the long list of capital gains under Percassi’s management.

Clearly, the windfall of nearly 100 million collected from Chelsea in two months or so would not remain idle in the club’s coffers. Atalanta is, in fact, looking for players suited to Maurizio Sarri’s tactical needs, and Ahanor’s departure could speed up several deals. A left winger is needed to complete the attacking trio, with Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe looking increasingly likely. However, keep an eye on Noa Lang, Malick Fofana, and Sebastiano Esposito as well. Other moves could also bolster other positions: in defense, Alessio Romagnoli—a staunch ally of the new Atalanta coach—could arrive, and Sarri is also looking for a strong central midfielder to anchor his midfield. As for Rowe, negotiations with Bologna are proving more complicated than expected. However, this impasse could be resolved thanks to the cash flow generated by the sale of Ahanor: with the club’s coffers replenished, Cristiano Giuntoli would finally have the leeway to meet Bologna’s demands and close a deal that Sarri considers a priority. Meanwhile, precisely to protect themselves against Rowe’s potential departure, the Rossoblù have reportedly already begun searching for a replacement, exploring the possibility of signing Ruben Vargas, a Swiss left winger set to leave Sevilla.

As for Noa Lang, the situation has evolved significantly in the last few hours. Atalanta, which had reached a tentative agreement with Napoli for a total of 27 million euros, appears to have shifted its focus to other players, leaving the field open for Galatasaray, which has already submitted an offer of 15 million—an amount deemed insufficient by Napoli. Napoli’s stance remains firm: Lang can only leave on a permanent basis or with an obligation to buy, categorically ruling out a simple loan. This is no minor detail, considering that the relationship between the Dutch player and the Neapolitan club had already deteriorated last season, when the former PSV player made scathing remarks about then-coach Antonio Conte.

The situation involving Sebastiano Esposito, however, is more complicated. The forward, born in 2002, is at the center of a full-blown transfer battle, with Sassuolo, Torino, and even Valencia in the mix, in addition to Bologna’s exploratory interest. Cagliari, which values him at no less than 20 million, does not seem willing to offer any discounts, and Atalanta may have to act decisively to avoid being left out of what promises to be a tight race.
