Napoli Transfer Market: A Decisive Move—Cyril Ngonge’s New Club Has Been Finalized
Napoli Transfer News: His departure was a certainty, as was his continued presence in Serie A; the only question remaining was which team Cyril Ngonge would join next. The definitive answer appears to have come on Wednesday, when one suitor pulled ahead of the others. And “overtaking” really does seem to be the most appropriate term, given that it was Monza that came out on top against Parma.
The Brianza-based club had long had its sights set on the Belgian winger, who was coming off a six-month loan to Espanyol and had since returned to Napoli. However, Parma had also entered the fray, intent on signing him on loan. Monza’s decisive move, however, proved crucial, as the deal also includes an option to purchase Ngonge in the future. He could be wearing the red-and-white jersey as early as Thursday, since the two clubs have scheduled a meeting to exchange the documents formalizing the successful conclusion of the deal.
For Monza, this is a targeted signing to add flair and speed on the wings—qualities that Ngonge had demonstrated especially during the first half of the 2023–2024 season, when, while playing for Hellas Verona, he scored 6 goals in 19 games before moving to Napoli during the January 2024 transfer window for a fee of around 20 million euros. It was a significant investment by the Neapolitan club, justified by the 35 appearances and 11 goals he scored for Verona across the league and Coppa Italia.
However, those expectations were never met while wearing the Azzurri colors. As early as the January 2025 transfer window, Ngonge’s name had been circulating as a possible departure, with Bologna pressing for the Belgian winger. The turning point came with his loan to Torino in the summer of 2025, but even with the Granata, things did not go as hoped: in 20 games, with 10 starts, Ngonge managed to score just one goal—on Matchday 5 against Parma—and became one of the most booed players on Baroni’s team. The situation deteriorated to the point that, during the January 2026 transfer window, the door opened for another loan, this time to Espanyol in La Liga.
Upon returning to Napoli in the summer, Ngonge joined the squad at their training camp in Castel di Sangro, initially undertaking individual fitness work, with Max Allegri seemingly intent on evaluating him. Transfer rumors, however, quickly overshadowed any hope of a resurgence with the Azzurri, and the Neapolitan club’s decision remained to sell the player. His current market value, estimated at around 8 million euros, speaks louder than any statistic about the Belgian’s tumultuous journey: just over a third of the 20 million euros Napoli spent on him barely two and a half years ago.
This won’t be the only departure from Napoli in these final days of the transfer window: Pasquale Mazzocchi is also on the transfer list. The fullback, who was left off the game-day roster due to squad limitations, is being pursued by several Serie A clubs, including Sassuolo, Lecce, Frosinone, Verona, and Cagliari. This marks yet another shake-up to the roster at Allegri’s disposal, as he continues to reshape Napoli in his own image.
