Atalanta Transfer Market: A Young Talent Will Be Sacrificed to Sign Rowe

Atalanta is stepping up its activity in the transfer market, but before focusing on its latest moves, it must get through a crucial stage of its season. The Nerazzurri are in action tonight at 8 p.m. at the DVTK Stadion in Miskolc, Hungary, for the second leg of the Conference League playoffs against Hapoel Tel Aviv. After a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Bergamo, Sarri’s team needs a win to secure qualification.

This is also an important match in terms of the transfer market. Advancing to the next round of the European competition would allow the club to plan for a season with two competitions and, consequently, the need to maintain a larger roster. If they are eliminated, however, some assessments regarding the roster could change.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri management continues to pursue Jonathan Rowe, identified as one of the main targets to strengthen the offense. Atalanta has reportedly already secured the 23-year-old British player’s approval and is now aiming to reach an agreement with Bologna. This major deal could be financed through an equally substantial sale. The name at the center of the outgoing transfer talks is Honest Ahanor, an 18-year-old fullback who has caught Chelsea’s eye. The London club, having already purchased Palestra from Atalanta in June for 60 million, is reportedly ready to knock on Atalanta’s door again.

For Ahanor, Chelsea is said to be preparing an offer of around 40 million plus bonuses. The young player has reportedly already given his consent to the transfer, and the two clubs are said to be getting closer to an agreement. This sale would allow Atalanta to realize another significant capital gain and, at the same time, secure the funds needed for a final push to sign Rowe.
