Fiorentina Transfer Market, Surprise Report: Call to Juventus Regarding the Sidelined Striker
In recent hours, Jonathan David’s stance appears to have softened. The Canadian, who is currently on the fringes of Luciano Spalletti’s plans, is reportedly considering the possibility of leaving Juventus, especially in light of the growing interest in him. Among the clubs showing the most interest is Atlético Madrid: Simeone likes the forward and sees him as a potential solution to expand his options in the attacking department.
The Spanish club, however, isn’t the only option. Fiorentina has also reportedly set its sights on David as it searches for a potential replacement for Moise Kean. The Viola have already made initial inquiries with Juventus to gauge the feasibility of the deal. The most likely scenario would involve a loan transfer, though a significant hurdle remains: the Canadian striker’s high salary.
As for Atlético Madrid, the deal could take on even more ambitious proportions. According to the latest rumors, the Colchoneros and Juventus are reportedly considering a trade involving Alexander Sørloth: the Norwegian center forward has long been identified by Spalletti as the ideal candidate to bolster Juventus’s attack, and David’s openness to a move to Spain could finally break the deadlock on the entire deal. Complicating the picture even further is the situation involving Nico González, who is also on Atlético Madrid’s radar: the Argentine does not want to stay in Turin, but the Colchoneros will likely wait until the final days of the transfer window to secure the best possible terms.
Juventus’ urgency to sell David is compounded by Kenan Yildiz’s injury; he suffered a left foot injury in the match against Frosinone and will be sidelined for about two months. Spalletti had already spoken out after that match, vocally calling for a center forward with different characteristics than those of Kolo Muani: “We’re looking for a forward with different characteristics, because there are games that come down to the last twenty minutes, and it’s easier to score with a header when the defense closes in”. David’s salary—6 million euros net per season—places a considerable burden on the finances of a club that did not compete in the Champions League last season and is therefore forced to operate with great prudence.
Meanwhile, at Fiorentina, the situation surrounding Kean has become even more complicated. The Italian striker refused to train at Viola Park, arriving late for the session scheduled by Fabio Grosso, and now risks being dropped from the roster.
