Serie B: Cremonese Suffers a Crushing Defeat; Modena Dominates at the “Zini”

Modena secured its second league win in two games. After defeating newly promoted Benevento, the team claimed another road victory, this time against Cremonese, which had just been relegated from the top flight: The Canarini won 3-0 and can now enjoy a blistering start to a season in which every point will carry immense weight from now until next spring.

Leading the visiting team was an inspired Giacomo Olzer: the former Pescara player scored first in the 31st minute off an assist from Brugman, then again in the 45th minute after receiving a pass from Ambrosino. In the second half, it was Giuseppe Caso—scoring his second goal of the season after his game-winner against Benevento—who sealed the 3-0 victory and secured the three points for the Emilia-Romagna side, led from the bench by Daniele Galloppa.

For Cremonese, it’s been a nightmare start to the season: after a 1-0 loss on the road against Empoli (with the Tuscan side down to ten men for over half an hour, no less), Marco Giampaolo’s team also collapsed at home, setting off the first alarm bells. Their convincing 2-0 victory over Sampdoria on August 17 to advance in the Coppa Italia now seems like a distant memory.
